Mountain Farm Interpretive Site at Humpback Rocks, Milepost 5.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway Near Lyndhurst Virginia

Top: A costumed interpreter demonstrates preparing fibers to be spun into thread to visitors of the Mountain Farm Trail at Humpback Rocks Visitors Center.

Middle:  Weekend visitors inspect the 1890’s era cabin at Humpback Rocks Visitors Center.  The mountain cabin, originally 50 miles south of its present location, was moved and restored in the 1950’s to illustrate a turn of the century farm landscape native to the area.  Also on site is a reconstructed spring house, chicken house, bear-proof pig pen, barn, and winter food storage shed.

Bottom:  Two costumed interpreters show a young girl how to saw a log with a two person crosscut saw.
