It is interesting that a good estimate would be that Nancy married, as she possesses a different last name than those of her parents, mentioned on the stone. But, instead of being mentioned as “Wife of,” as on many female gravestones [...]

Top: Gravestone of Nancy Moore, d. August 10, 1842
Bottom: Gravestone of Thomas Strayhorn, d. September 7, 1864. Mr. Strayhorn died in the Battle of Reams Station in the American Civil War. The gravestone identifies him as a member of the “Orange Guards,” the regiment of Orange County Volunteers assembled to fight in the war.
